Microsoft Dynamics GP and SQL Server 2008

Some of you out there are still running SQL 2005 with GP10. I would guest most of you are. Some of you have seen the information on SQL 2008 and wonder is it worth to upgrade to SQL 2008.

I have had the experience of implementing GP10 with SQL 2008 and have had great experience not only with the increased performance but also with the additional features it provides.

SQL Reporting services was a major upgrade from the previous version in my opinion. The ability to dynamically control the report on how data is displayed and formatted makes it a major improvement.

The query editor has been improved to include keyboard to allow it to type ahead automatically searching for tables and fields saving you time.

But some of the better enhancements is the .Net development platform and the data compression that has been added. I have attached a recently released white paper that shows the performance increases you receive in SQL 2008 when you implement the data compression features.
