Mekorma MICR:  What is It and How Can Your Company Benefit From Using It

What is Mekorma MICR?

Mekorma MICR is an enhancement for Microsoft Dynamics GP that allows your company to print checks in the desired format that directly relates to your operations.  The checks are printed through the same standard check printing practice within Microsoft Dynamics GP.  Mekorma MICR adds the layer to pull from the customized format designed within the Mekorma MICR check configurator, rather than the internal GP check configurations, making the check printing process seamless within Microsoft Dynamics GP.

What are the top benefits of using Mekorma MICR?

Customized Check Formats:

With Mekorma MICR, checks can be printed exactly how you desire them to print.  Mekorma MICR has the flexibility to use blank check-stock customized the way your company wants.  Mekorma MICR allows the printing of the checks on the top, bottom, or middle of the page.  The configurator enables the printing of the standard Microsoft Dynamics GP check fields on the check and stub, such as the vendor name, voucher number, invoice, invoice date, invoice amount, routing number, account number, etc.  It further enables the printing of additional fields captured from the Microsoft Dynamics GP system, such as the notes, general ledger accounts, and many other fields stored within the ERP system.  Different formats can be setup for different checkbooks.  Mekorma MICR works with the Account Payable module, US Payroll, Canadian Payroll, and Miscellaneous checks.

Check Security, Control of Passwords, and Approvals:

Mekorma MICR has multi-level password protection allowing better control of cash flow, while reducing check fraud.  Mekorma MICR adds a level of security to the check printing process that ensures checks are printed only by authorized users enabled to perform the check printing process.  It may require passwords to print checks or EFTs.  Thresholds can be setup to require additional approval processes in order to print checks that exceed the threshold amounts.  The thresholds can be a multiple-tiered process for differing amounts, requiring a different approver based the invoice amount.  Secure approval workflows enable the routing of the individual invoices to the appropriate approver for authorization prior to the printing of the checks.  Through the use of these workflows, payment batches may be locked down during the approval process to further ensure checks are printed for only those items that should be printed.

Automatic Signatures:

Signature files can be added and encrypted within Microsoft SQL to automatically sign checks that meet the security requirements and have been approved by the appropriate approvers.  Checks may be printed with the automatic signature and may include multiple signatures based on the invoice thresholds.  Automatic signatures are not a requirement within Mekorma MICR.  The signature line or lines may be left blank to force the manually signing of the checks.

Mekorma MICR is a great, reliable tool that enhances your check printing process, while supporting your organization’s customized needs within Microsoft Dynamics GP.  It provides the security and flexibility needed to support your everyday operations, ensuring the printed checks look the way you want and only print when you want them to print.
