Get your Elbows Dirty with BI

I love listening to the Kane Show on Hot 99.5 during my morning commutes into the office.  So I couldn’t resist using Arnetta’s saying in the title of this month’s blog.   When someone calls in to the Kane Show saying that today is there last day at their company they like playing a clip from Arnetta.  In my case it’s not my last day at KTL Solutions but a job change within the company. Over the last eighteen months, we have seen a lot of businesses come to us looking for or to enhance their business intelligence needs so more and more of my time has been focused on those features and not so much on Microsoft Dynamics GP.  While the Kane Show is the best radio show in the DMV, it’s KTL Solutions’ goal to be the best Microsoft partner in the DMV.  So to better align ourselves with our clients’ needs and provide the outstanding customer service we have created a Business Intelligence Department at KTL Solutions that I will be heading up as the BI/EDW Solution Architect.  That’s not to say that I still won’t be doing the occasional Dynamics GP upgrade or implementation but my main focus will be on your Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse needs.

KTL already has some great solutions for our clients from Microsoft’s BI stack of SSAS, SSIS, SSRS and Power BI and Solver’s BI360.  You may find yourself asking should our company implement a business intelligence solutions and if so what are the benefits?  There are so many benefits to name so here are just a few:

Easy and equal access to the data

For years, transactional data and reports have been controlled by the Accounting and IT Departments with none of their systems having a complete picture.  A business intelligence solution can collect information from multiple and often disparate systems as well as from various geographic locations within an organization and consolidate it into a single and integrated portal, making it easy for employees to access all the data for comprehensive reporting, auditing and predictive analysis.

More accurate information

A business intelligence solution can remove the multitude of spreadsheets — many of which contain errors, omissions or duplicate information — from the organization.[1] Reports are created automatically and are accurate and up-to-date.

Improved decision making

When analytical data is readily available and understandable, managers can make well-informed and insightful business decisions quickly and efficiently. Moreover, routine problems are less likely to be escalated up the management hierarchy. When managers have access to reports, charts, graphs and analysis, they also feel empowered to take proactive measures to improve performance and ensure that profit expectations are met.

Improved marketing analysis

With a business intelligence solution, you can determine the success rate of advertisements, direct mail campaigns and e-mail promotions. You can then tailor your marketing efforts to specific guests in an effort to gain an edge over the competition. You can redesign your company web store or web site based on web log analysis to better fit your client needs.  You can create detailed guest profiles that include history, itineraries, interests and preferences.  Armed with this information, you can anticipate guest needs and offer more personalized service, which boosts satisfaction and engenders loyalty.

In today’s economic environment, where competition is fierce and customers are increasingly expect outstanding and personalized service, it takes more than spreadsheets and hunches to keep a company competitive.   A business intelligence solution can help ensure your business’ success — both now and in the future.

So on your morning commute tomorrow don’t forgot to listen to the Kane Show on Hot 99.5 to hear the best Kane Skams or War of the Roses and then when you get in the office give KTL Solutions a call to see how we can help with your business intelligence needs.
