Microsoft has made a large investment in BI in 2015, both on-premises and in the cloud. BI offerings across Datazen, R, Excel, Power BI and coming to SQL Server 2016 are huge. Microsoft released a public BI roadmap on where they are headed with their BI stack. Microsoft’s simple goal is to put the power of data in the hands of every business user. This simple goal is inline with the #1 top ranked IT priority according to Gartner.
Nexus —the connection between a company and taxing jurisdictions that triggers a sales tax liability—gets thornier the faster your company grows. Surprisingly, more revenue can mean more complexity and potentially greater risk of sales tax audit (more money, more problems?).
Here are 5 areas of sales tax risk relating to business growth and what you can do to address them:
Microsoft Dynamics’s Convergence, a gathering of 12,000 customers, partners and Microsoft employees, was great this year. Almost transformative, and as an experienced Convergence attendee, here are my five takeaways that make me think this was a great Convergence:
1. The president of Microsoft, Satya Nadella, attended and was the keynote speaker. Ballmer was absent the last two years, which for me, was not an issue, as his messaging was stale and confirmed in my mind he did not understand business applications. See number five below for more detail about why the keynote was so transformative.
Dynamics CRM 2015 is around the corner and there is a lot of excitement building up towards its launch. CRM 2013 completely changed things by introducing a whole new user interface and CRM 2015 is building on top of it by adding and improving existing features. CRM 2015 has introduced a lot of platform enhancements that make it a solid and great CRM experience. I have listed a few exciting features here but it’s a big list and we will explore through them as we approach the CRM 2015 launch.
