Key Points from my first year at KTL Solutions

Written by Abe Hammat

Hi all! My name is Abe Hammat and I am a Customer Success Account Representative here at KTL Solutions. Although my one-year anniversary was back in February, this is my first blog post since I transitioned to my new role a few months ago. I hope my experience and background can shed some light on my key learning points.

I started at KTL As a Business Development Manager and my focus was on both the commercial and Aerospace & Defense side. As I slowly began to focus on the Aerospace and Defense Contractors, these were some of the recurring themes I saw:

  • CMMC Compliance: The bread and butter for Aerospace and Defense contracting’s IT teams. The purpose for CMMC Compliance is simple – Protecting information at a level that the Department of Defense deems safe from threats.
  • The sheer number: I was shocked by the pure number of companies that worked with the Department of Defense. It put into perspective how many companies lived within the Aerospace and Defense Ecosystem
  • GCC and GCC High: Microsoft GCC and GCC High are both built on the Azure Commercial Infrastructure but adhere to the compliance requirements. The difference between the two mainly comes down to where the actual location of the stored CUI Data resides. GCC is on the same cloud as the Microsoft Commercial cloud and can be accessed by anyone in Microsoft’s worldwide personnel. On the other hand, GCC High uses Microsoft’s United State’s cloud, only physically in the U.S., and can only ever be accessed by American citizens with certain clearances.
  • Timetables: Every company takes its own route to become CMMC Compliant. Some have everything set in place while others are just getting started. It can be nerve-racking! So, no matter where you are in your CMMC journey, take a second to breathe! The goal is to become compliant, there are a multitude of ways to get there!
