Ta-Da! It’s To-Do from Microsoft

Does anyone out there still write to do lists? I know I do! I have always been an obsessive list writer. I write lists for things I need to accomplish at work, things I need to accomplish at home, packing lists if I am going on a trip, etc. I, of course, lose them about 30 minutes later. So, you can see how productive that is…

Microsoft has recently acquired the intelligent list building activity from WunderList and is incorporating it into Office 365. By using Cortana to beef up the solution, Microsoft To-Do was born.

To-Do is different than a traditional to-do list, in that it starts out blank every morning. From there you add things that are important to you, and you can tap the lightbulb in the app for To-Do to suggest things you need to do. From there, you can add the ones you want to “My Day” and start checking them off.

To-Do is also fully integrated with Outlook so you can stay on top of all your meetings and tasks. To-Do’s smart algorithms would take your Outlook meetings into account and may suggest that you confirm appointments, review notes, etc. to be fully prepared for them.

To-Do also offers space to create your grocery lists and can link to a personal calendar to remind you of things going on in your home life. Because while it is important to prepare for a board meeting and draft your new budget, it is equally important to remember to buy milk and pick your child up from soccer practice.

Even if To-Do isn’t something you would use every day, this is a win for Office 365 users. This acquisition shows how much time, energy, and money Microsoft is investing in Officer 365 and pushing out the technology to their users at no additional charge.
