According to Microsoft TechNet, accessing reports is not available through a mobile device such as a tablet or phone. “Using Microsoft Dynamics 365 on a web browser on an Apple or Android mobile device provides a similar experience to using it with a web browser on a desktop or laptop computer. However, some features are not available, including:
- Pinch and zoom
- System Settings
- Advanced Find
- Process dialogs
- Skype for Business presence
- Adding attachments to Notes—for Apple iPad users with Dynamics 365 (on-premises)
- Entities that use classic forms such as Goal and Order Product.”
My interpretation of this information was that not only would you not be able to create reports from the mobile device, but you also would not be able to run the reports either such as a quote report on from a quote record. I have recently found that this is not the case entirely. I was able to open and view a custom SSRS report while on various Apple mobile devices. Using an iPad, I opened up the CRM environment through the Safari web browser. I navigated to a quote record (we wanted to view a quote report for a specific quote) and found that my reports link button was unavailable. To enable access to it, I opened the action menu on the browser. This is the button that looks like a box with an arrow pointing out the top of it. From here you’ll want to scroll to the right on the lower menu options until you find the ‘Request Desktop Site’ button. When you select this, the page will reload, and you will see that you have access to the reports button. You can then run the report, and it will populate in the standard CRM report menu. All the parameters will show for you to modify as needed but the menu bar is limited as it does not have the export functionality.
For the iPhone, I was not able to get the Desktop Site to populate using the Safari browser so we couldn’t get to the reports. Chrome, however, did generate the full desktop version and we were able to get to the reports that way. Similar to the tablet experience exporting was not an option.
