Upgrade to Dynamics GP2016 and Management Reporter CU15

Last May, Microsoft announced that it will no longer be investing in new features to Management Reporter and that it has partnered with Jet Reports to fill the financial reporting needs for Dynamics GP.  This being said, Management Reporter still works with the Dynamics GP 2016 and will continue to be supported by Microsoft in the near term.  In this blog, I wanted to cover an issue we have been having with Management Reporter 2012 CU15 and Dynamics GP2016.

In the past few months, we have been upgrading several of our clients to Dynamics GP 2016 and have been consistently running into an error while trying to configure the Dynamics GP connection in Management Reporter 2012 CU15.  The error states:  “Couldn’t retrieve the list of the available database:  The connection attempt failed.”  This error pops up each time either the Legacy or Data Mart adapters were used.

The issue was caused by the release of Management Reporter 2012 CU15.  Management Reporter 2012 CU15 was released prior to GP2016 and was setup to use the Dexterity Shared Components for GP2015 rather than GP2016.  To fix this issue, you need to install the Dexterity Shared Components for GP2015:

  • Exit the Management Reporter Console
  • Download Dynamics GP2015
  • Install redis\DexteritySharedComponents
  • Re-configure the Dynamics GP Legacy or Data Mart

This should resolve the connection issue with GP2016 and Management Reporter 2012 U15.
